VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, is all set to begin its Indian operations with the launch of VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs during this year’s festive season. Ahead of EVs’ arrival, the company has revised its sales plans by reducing its sales target for the first year by one-third, and now it aims to sell only 3,000 units. Simultaneously, VinFast is still considering whether to assemble the VF6 and VF7 SUVs in India using CKD (completely knocked down) kits.
Delay and Reasons:

The VinFast VF6 and VF7 India launch has now been delayed by a month, as the company’s sales network isn’t fully ready. Production of the EVs was earlier slated to begin at VinFast’s Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu on 30th June, but it has now been pushed to 30th July. The delay is attributed to VinFast’s weak distribution strategy and underdeveloped sales network.
After its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January, the company had signed up dealers across 40 locations, but most of them have now backed out due to concerns over VinFast’s plans for distribution, pricing and product positioning. The report further states that only 8 to 10 dealers are still on board.
