A bomb threat email received by the authorities at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) triggered a swift response from security agencies, only to be declared a hoax after a detailed sweep of the premises.
According to officials, the airport’s chief security officer immediately alerted the Hyderabad police upon receiving the email — which mentioned a bomb at the airport premises.
Teams from the bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire department were rushed to the spot. The premises was evacuated and a thorough inspection of the airport, including passenger areas and baggage sections, was carried out.
Authorities later confirmed that the threat was a false alarm. No suspicious objects were found, and operations returned to normal. The Cyber Crimes Police are now tracing the source of the email and investigating the motive behind the hoax.
