Royal Enfield 250cc Hybrid Bike Might Use Chinese Engine

Royal Enfield will leave no stone unturned in maintaining its lead in the mid-size motorcycle segment with a future-ready product lineup. The Chennai-based two-wheeler maker is also planning to foray into new segments including electric vehicles (EVs) and the entry-level 250cc bike space. Talking about the upcoming Royal Enfield 250cc bike, the model is likely to arrive sometime next year. However, its official launch timeline is yet to be revealed.

China-sourced engine:

Royal Enfield 250cc Hybrid Bike Might Use Chinese Engine

The RE 250cc bike will be based on a new-generation 250cc platform (codenamed ‘V’). Interestingly, it will also mark the debut of Royal Enfield’s first hybrid motorcycle. The company is currently in talks with China-based CFMoto, a manufacturer of engines, components and accessory, for licensing its hybrid engine technology.

Royal Enfield’s 250cc hybrid engine will meet the stringent BS6 Phase 2 emission norms and the upcoming CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) standards. The CFMoto-sourced engine is expected to be compact and fuel efficient. The report further states that it will enable Royal Enfield to adopt both mild hybrid and full hybrid configurations at in the future. A final decision over the CFMoto sourced engine is likely to be made in the first half of FY2026.

About the 250cc bike!

While the engine will be sourced from China, the forthcoming Royal Enfield 250cc hybrid bike will be built in-house and feature a locally developed ‘V’ platform, chassis and suspension. Detailed specifications of the model are not available yet. However, it will be positioned below the RE Hunter 350, which is currently available at a starting price of Rs 1,49,000. The new Royal Enfield 250cc hybrid bike is estimated to cost around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Royal Enfield recently increased the prices of the Bullet 350 by Rs 3,000. The bike lineup now comes in four variants – Battalion, Military, Standard and Black Gold – available at Rs 1.75 lakh, Rs 1.75 lakh Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.18 lakh, respectively. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
