
Hyderabad: Telangana experienced heavy rainfall across several locations, with Vikarabad recording the highest rainfall at 54.8 mm. Hyderabad followed with 21.5 mm, while Karimnagar saw 16.3 mm.
Meanwhile, Jagtial received 10.3 mm rainfall, Bhadradri Kothagudem 9.8 mm and Kumaram Bheem 8.8 mm, Peddapalli 8.5 mm, Nirmal 7 mm, Mancherial 5.3 mm, and Wanparthy 2 mm.
In Hyderabad, the highest rainfall was reported at Nampally, measuring 56.6 mm, followed by Bansilalpet with 21.5 mm. “The average rainfall in the GHMC limit was 19.3 mm against the normal 2.0 mm,” noted an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD said the highest maximum temperature of 37.8°C was recorded at Shaikpet on the day.
The department has issued a yellow warning across the state, indicating that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur in isolated places within the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam.
Since June 1, when the pre-monsoon showers transitioned swiftly to monsoon rains, Telangana has received cumulative rainfall of 121.7 mm, significantly higher than the normal 99.4 mm for this period.
The rain is likely to take a pause for two days from Tuesday when heat will increase during with sultry conditions.
