Hyderabad: A delegation of senior BRS leaders met Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand on Wednesday to seek a fair probe into the recent death of Mohammed Sardar, a BRS minority leader from Jubilee Hills.
The delegation comprising MLAs Mutha Gopal and Kaleru Venkatesh, and MLCs Pochampally Srinivas Reddy and Dasoju Sravan, alleged that the Congress leaders were harassing Sardar with false cases and forcing him to switch over to their party.
Sardar, who ran a medical store, reportedly faced a raid by drug control officials on dubious charges of selling expired medicine, after he reportedly refused to join the ruling Congress.
The BRS delegation said the Borabanda police were acting in a biased manner and demanded legal action against the real perpetrators. They urged the Commissioner to intervene, who is learnt to have responded positively, and assured appropriate action.
The party leaders also raised concerns over a viral video of one Sridhar Rao from Sandhya Convention reportedly making disturbing comments linked to the death of former MLA Maganti Gopinath, allegedly threatening similar fate to others, using black magic. The BRS demanded swift investigation into the issue.
