Ather EL platform – What to expect?

The new EL architecture will feature a completely new powertrain and updated electronics. The company says that it has been designed to cater diverse market requirements, both domestic and international. This strategy will help Ather reduce manufacturing cost and achieve aggressive pricing for future products. The Ather EL platform-based electric scooters are expected to be priced under Rs 1 lakh

The upcoming affordable Ather electric scooters are likely to share batteries and components with the existing Ather 450 platform. These future models will be manufactured at Ather’s Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra, with production set to begin in a phased manner from May, 2026. At present, Ather Energy has two production facilities in Tamil Nadu, with a combined annual capacity of 4.2 lakh units.

Ather’s future plan:

The Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker is also developing on the new-gen Grid fast chargers and the AtherStack 7.0 software. The upcoming fast chargers will be fastest and more convenient alternatives for users. Currently, the Ather 450X, equipped with a 2.9kWh battery pack, takes 3 hours to get charge from 0 to 80 percent using a DC fast charger. The AtherStack 7.0 software will power future Ather electric scooters, ensuring advanced features and upgrades.

Furthermore, Ather Energy aims to expand its double its dealership network by March 2026. The company currently has 351 touchpoints, which it aims to increase to 700 Experience Centres across the country.
