Kharif ’25: NTR district targets 1 lakh hectares | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: Anticipating abundant rains from the South-West monsoon, the Agriculture Department in NTR district has set an ambitious target to cultivate over one lakh hectares during the Kharif 2025 season. This is an increase from the average cultivation area of 94,931 hectares during a regular Kharif season in the district.According to the Kharif 2025 action plan prepared by the NTR district agriculture authorities, the department aims to achieve paddy cultivation— the major crop during the Kharif season—on 50,600 hectares, compared to the regular 48,167 hectares. Paddy accounts for the highest cultivation area among all crops.Paddy is followed by cotton, with the agriculture department targeting 38,500 hectares of cultivation against the usual 36,254 hectares for the upcoming Kharif season in NTR district.The overall cultivation area for food grain crops such as paddy, sorghum, maize, red gram, and others has been set at 61,197 hectares, up from 58,169 hectares in the district. Meanwhile, oilseed cultivation is planned to cover 87 hectares, which is 17 hectares more than the regular area.
