The father-son team of Mark Olsen, Detroit Lakes, and Cody Olsen, Grand Forks, weighed in 74.22 pounds of catfish to win the 11th annual Scheels Boundary Battle Catfish Tournament, held Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, on the Red River in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.
Teams could weigh in three catfish daily, of which only two could be longer than 24 inches. The tournament was open to 50 two-person teams, and a full field of anglers fished the two-event. Anglers launched out of the Whopper John Little boat landing in Grand Forks on day one and at the new ramp at LaFave Park in East Grand Forks on day two.
The Olsens earned $2,000 for winning the tournament.
Rounding out the top five and their weights and winnings were:
- Second: Ray Lee and Eric Thompson, 72.04 pounds, $1,500.
- Third: Kelly Clement and Diane Clement, 71.98 pounds, $1,250.
- Fourth: Nate Erickson and Andrew Rice, 71.47 pounds, $750.
- Fifth: Dustin Casmey and Troy Weber, 68.5 pounds, $500.
Prizes also were awarded for heaviest weights, heaviest “slot fish” (under 24 inches) and big fish for each day of the tournament. The winning teams in those categories were as follows:
- Day 1 Slot Fish: Tony Weber and Chris Rood, 5.31 pounds, $250.
- Day 1 Big Fish: Kelly Clement and Diane Clement, 20.25 pounds, $500.
- Day 1 Winners: Kelly Clement and Diane Clement, 39.19 pounds, $1,000.
- Day 2 Slot Fish: Abraham Hawkens and Duane Meiers, 5.58 pounds, $250.
- Day 2 Big Fish: Nate Erickson and Andrew Rice, 19.16 pounds, $500.
- Day 2 Winners: Nate Erickson and Andrew Rice, 36.39 pounds, $1,000.
Next year’s tournament will be held Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2026.
