Two Property Registration Officials Penalised For Grave Misconduct

KURNOOL: Inspector General (IG) of Stamps and Registration has taken disciplinary action against a sub-registrar and senior assistant for grave misconduct in two separate instances.

Following inquiries, the IG office found that S. Mahaboob Ali, serving as sub-registrar at the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) in Gooty of Anantapur district, while working as the upper division clerk at SRO Kalluru wrongly registered 136 documents without scrutinising prohibited property registers. Thereby, Mahaboob Ali undervalued the properties, causing a revenue loss of over ₹53 lakh.

Based on these findings, the Deputy Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Anantapur, penalised Mahaboob Ali by withholding five increments of pay. The disciplinary action stemmed from a complaint filed by B.P. John, Custodian of J. Rockwood Memorial High School, Bangarupet, Kurnool, with the Upa-Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh.

In the other case, V. Muralidhara Reddy of Kurnool complained that government land in B. Thandrapadu village had been illegally registered in the name of an individual. An inquiry confirmed that M. Hajmijah, senior assistant at the Joint Sub-Registrar’s Office in Kurnool had been responsible for the same. Following this, Hajmijah’s two annual increments have been withheld.

With the issue addressed, the Upa-Lokayukta has formally closed the complaint.
