Even Class 4 students know terms FTL and buffer zone, says Ranganath

Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said that before taking charge, even he was unaware of key terms like Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone, but now even students of classes four and five are learning about them.

He was speaking at HYDRAA’s first anniversary celebrations held at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday.

Students showcase environmental awareness

The event featured a special exhibition where students from 30 schools across Greater Hyderabad displayed models highlighting various social and environmental issues.

Their exhibits emphasised the importance of protecting lakes, water bodies and ecosystems in the city. Director and actor Tharun Bhascker attended as chief guest.

Protecting nature ensures safety

Addressing the gathering, Ranganath said, “If we protect nature, we all remain safe. Everyone must be part of this mission. We are working to save lakes, parks, roads, and drains from encroachments to secure the city’s future. Despite many challenges, HYDRAA is determined to continue this journey for the benefit of future generations.”

HYDRAA’s unique administrative structure

He explained that HYDRAA was established with the aim of protecting Hyderabad’s chain of lakes for coming generations.

The government has entrusted officials from various departments, including police, municipal administration, irrigation, and revenue, to work together under HYDRAA. “This is the only such system in the country,” he added.

Prize distribution to student winners

During the programme, students who won competitions organised by Dasya Geeta Bhascker, founder of Ind Fame Visual Arts, were felicitated and presented with prizes for their creative and impactful models.
