Hyderabad records light to moderate showers | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Several parts of Telangana experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Thursday, with Kumuram Bheem district recording the highest levels. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Kouthala in Kumuram Bheem received 51.5mm of rainfall, followed by Loanvelli with 49.5mm and Bejjur with 39.5mm. Other notable rainfall figures were recorded at Sirpur (28mm), Yelkapalle (26.5mm), and Dahegaon (24.5mm). Districts such as Bhadrachalam, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Ranga Reddy, and Khammam also reported rainfall ranging between 15mm and 23mm.Light to moderate showers soak HydIn Hyderabad, rainfall remained light to moderate throughout the day. The highest recorded rainfall within GHMC limits was 18mm at Jawahar Nagar community hall in the Musheerabad circle, followed by 16mm at Vidya Nagar in Himayatnagar. Banjara Hills and the Uppal ward office areas each recorded 15mm. Other parts of the city, including Amberpet, Nampally, and Shaikpet, received between 11.5mm and 14.8mm of rainfall.The rain caused minor traffic congestion in several areas of the city, particularly in low-lying localities such as Serilingampally, Tolichowki, Khairatabad, and Malakpet. Commuters faced delays due to waterlogging and slippery roads, prompting authorities to deploy emergency teams to clear blocked drains.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and TSDPS forecast, Hyderabad is expected to experience a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Gusty winds of 30–40 km/h are likely, especially during the evening hours. Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution while travelling, due to wet and slippery roads and the potential for water stagnation in low-lying areas.
