I believe the 2GC offers a better value-for-money proposition than the others.

2025 BMW 2GC vs Mercedes A-class vs others: What would you pick?

BMW 2-Series GranCoupe

What you’ll like:

• Solid build quality & top-notch fit & finish coupled with smart, coupe styling. Looks absolutely fabulous!
• Modern and well-appointed cabin feels good
• Free-revving, frugal petrol engine mated to a smooth, responsive 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
• Excellent high-speed stability coupled with sorted handling and a precise steering. Mature ride quality at speed
• Useable 430-litre boot and multiple storage spaces in the cabin
• Loaded with features such as adaptive headlamps, electric front seats with extendable thigh support, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, Boost mode, 360-degree camera, interior camera, etc.
• Top-notch safety kit and some ADAS features
• BMW’s relatively strong reliability record along with decent after-sales service

What you won’t:

• Expensive! On-road price prices touch 56 lakhs
• 18-inch wheels give the ride a firm edge on bad roads at low speeds. It’s totally liveable though
• 3-cylinder petrol lacks the refinement expected in a car of this segment. Further, the 154 horses on tap make it quick, but not f-a-s-t
• No diesel engine on offer
• No physical buttons for the climate control, auto-hold and idling start/stop systems – this is a daily usability failure
• Back seat is more suitable for 2 adults and a child. Not 3 adults
• Sloping roofline makes rear ingress difficult for taller users. Headroom is limited too
• Missing features such as ventilated seats, full-size spare tyre (has a space saver tyre), rear sunshade, seat massage, full ADAS suite etc.

Toyota Camry

What you’ll like:

• An extremely well-rounded luxury sedan. Lots of road presence due to its sheer size too
• We find the Camry well-priced for what it offers
• Spacious, comfortable & well-equipped cabin
• Powerful and environment-friendly hybrid powertrain mated to a butter-smooth CVT automatic
• Excellent fuel efficiency. ARAI FE rating = 25.49 km/l. 15 km/l in the city is easy
• Compliant ride quality with sorted road manners
• Loaded with kit (9-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, reclinable rear seats, head-up display, drive modes, telematics, etc.)
• Top-notch safety ratings. Equipment includes 9 airbags, ESP, Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS) & more
• Toyota’s excellent reliability and superb after-sales service

What you won’t:

• Styling isn’t to everyone’s taste. You’ll either love it or hate it
• Not as solidly built as German competitors
• Handful of cabin plastics don’t feel premium
• Owners will miss a panoramic sunroof, folding rear seat, glovebox cooling & illumination etc.
• Back seat is better suited to 2 adults, rather than 3
• Turning radius of 5.7 m and large size will make it difficult to manouver in congested cities
• Road noise is higher than expected

Here’s what BHPian It’s_Magic had to say on the matter:

Voted for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

I believe it offers a better value-for-money proposition than the others. It also looks fabulous and is an amazing car to drive. It’s packed with features, and BMW offers relatively better after-sales service support.

The Audi A4 is a great car, and I assume many will vote for it. However, if I were to go for the top variant with all the features, I would have to pay significantly more.

The Mercedes A-Class feels a bit smaller than the others, and it now looks somewhat dated. It was appealing a few years ago, but the last update brought very few changes.

In India, when people talk about luxury cars, Toyota isn’t usually considered (although the Camry is a nice car). Therefore, the Toyota Camry isn’t really an option when you have offerings from BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.

Here’s what BHPian sharmanova had to say on the matter:

These entry-level Germans except the A4, do not make any sense due to their puny engines and terrible space. I would rather get a pre-owned A6/C-Class/330i at this pricepoint.

If buying brand-new is the only option, then I would get a Harrier.ev and a Virtus GT for this price!
