India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued heavy rain alert for Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Nizamabad, in effect from Saturday (July 26, 2025) morning to Sunday morning.
Besides, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to prevail at isolated places in all districts. The intensity of rainfall in the State was less on Thursday as the highest rainfall of 83.9 mm was recorded in Kouthala (Kumuram Bheem).
Meanwhile, Hyderabad received rain on Friday afternoon. According to IMD’s impact based forecast, the city and its surrounding areas may receive light to moderate rain or drizzle on Saturday.
On Friday, the rain intensity was light as the highest of 4 mm was recorded in Secunderabad circle of Marredpally mandal, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society’s (TGDPS) data recorded from morning to 4.00 p.m.
Though the rain stopped before the beginning of evening rush hour, the overcast sky appeared ominous as a gentle breeze blew through the city. Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri were among the list of several districts under orange alert (light rain and light thunderstorm), according to a nowcast by India Meteorological Department, effective till 7.00 p.m.
