Two Nigerians Arrested in India for Drugs, Face Deportation

Indian authorities have arrested two Nigerians for overstaying and involvement in drug-related activities in Tolichowki, a suburb of Hyderabad in India.

The Nigerians, Aful Clement, 29, and Lazarus Favour, 19, were nabbed by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing on Wednesday and may be deported to Nigeria.

According to Metro India, Clement entered India on a business visa and was previously arrested in a 2022 cheating case by Chandigarh police, and was jailed for six months.

After his release, he stayed in Delhi without any legal employment and has overstayed his visa, which expired in 2019.

Lazarus entered India on a student visa for studies in science and technology, but started dealing with drug offenders.

Both had been moved to Hyderabad from Bengaluru and were acting suspiciously in the Tolichowki police station limits.

“While no drugs were recovered during their apprehension, authorities suspect they were involved in drug peddling.

“Their activities were deemed a threat to national security, prompting H-NEW to coordinate with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office to initiate their deportation,” the report added.
