Water tanker plunges into drain after road caves in at Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills

A water tanker plunged into a drainage after a portion of the road caved in near Road No. 1 in Banjara Hills of Hyderabad on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) morning, following heavy rains in the area the previous night.

The incident was reported near a bylane close to Virinchi Hospital, where a section of the concrete cover over a drainage channel gave way, causing the tanker to fall.

According to Banjara Hills Traffic police, the driver sustained minor injuries. “The road was constructed over a nala. Locals said it was built more than three decades ago. The combination of ageing infrastructure and intense rainfall likely led to the collapse,” an official said.
