Maruti Victoris could be next Creta-rivalling midsize SUV

Maruti Victoris could be next Creta-rivalling midsize SUV Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a new midsize SUV in the Indian market. The Hyundai Creta rival was expected to be called the Escudo, but the latest reports suggest that it might be christened ‘Victoris’ instead. The Maruti Victoris will be a 5-seater SUV that will slot between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. It is expected to be positioned as a more value-for-money offering compared to its rivals. The Victoris will be offered with three engine options. These are the same powertrains that you get in the Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Then there will be the petrol-hybrid option as well as a CNG version. AWD will be available on select variants. Unlike the Grand Vitara, the new Victoris will be sold via the brand’s Arena dealerships, which indicates that Maruti is looking to target a much wider customer base. The Maruti Victoris will also be exported to overseas markets, where it might be called the Escudo. Toyota’s version of the Victoris will arrive later. Source:Autocar India
