I bought a Triumph Street Triple RS; It’s everything I hoped for! BHPian naveendagar recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Hey fellow BHPians, After years of voraciously reading Team-BHP’s epic ownership threads, watching countless YouTube videos, bugging showroom staff, and dreaming endlessly, I finally brought home the Triumph Street Triple RS in Red. Delivered new-from Triumph Naraina, New Delhi, straight to my doorstep in Shillong-she’s only 150km old as I write this. This review, crafted in true Team-BHP spirit, is my humble attempt at giving back to the forum that shaped my journey. Grab coffee, because this is going to be crisp and honest-covering the buying process, delivery, quality check, ride, features, quirks, cost, and my first impressions. The Quest for the Ultimate MiddleweightThe dream for a middleweight sport-naked goes way back. My biking roots are in humble commuters-platonic, dependable, but never thrilling. I have had the “pleasure” of buying a Hero Honda Karizma, that too in Red, from 2007 till 2014. I also have had the “guts’ to own a silver electra from 2014 to 2016. My evolution in taste owed much to Team-BHP’s peerless community: the unfiltered honesty, technical depth, and sense of brotherhood. Threads on the Triumph Street Triple got me hooked; the British triple became the “holy grail”-something I aspired to, yet always second-guessed.The ContendersI wasn’t blindly loyal to Triumph. The shortlist in my quest included: Kawasaki Z900: Bulletproof reliability, but bland character (to me). Visited 3-4 showrooms in guwahati, Kolkata and delhi to reconfirm the choice but…… Honda CB650R: Refined, beautiful, slightly underwhelming for the price, but in same price I think z900 was more value for the buck. Ducati Monster: Out of budget, potential service headaches and somehow the exhaust note sucked. Triumph Street Triple RS: The “Goldilocks zone”-performance, features, premium feel, community support. Why the RS?What swayed me The Engine: Reviews were unanimous-nothing comes close to the 765 triple’s character. That induction roar, the shriek at redline, and torque everywhere. Handling: Exceptional. Felt lightweight, nimble, and flickable according to owner threads. Daily Use: While aggressive, it’s still comfortable and practical, unlike supersports. Features: Quickshifter, TFT dash, ride modes, top-tier brakes-all things that make geeks giddy. RED WAS ONLY AVAILABLE IN RS First Look The Research Deep Dive No decision in my life has been this thoroughly researched. Team-BHP Binge Every word written in the Street Triple reviews (special mention to tbhp handle NIKHN) became a personal bible. YouTube Rabbit Hole Several hundred hours were spent watching: Walkarounds Detailed reviews from India, UK, and USA “Sound” tests-does she sing or scream? Service cost breakdowns “First 1000km” and “long term” reviewsShortlisting Accessories (Pre-purchase)A list was made: Frame sliders Tank pad, radiator guard Swing arm protectorsBooking to Delivery – The Triumph Naraina ExperienceBooking & Payment Triumph Naraina was outstanding-responsive, transparent, and patient. They never pushed, just answered every newbie question (including some dumb ones). Special mention here to Mr Prashant and Mr Danyal, professionals to the core Paperwork: PAN, Aadhar, address proof, and a mountain of standard forms. Payment: Bank transfer, confirmed same day. Flatbed shipping: The dealer arranged a shared Tata 207, packing the bike securely (bubble wrap + shrink wrap). I got videos at every stage-a godsend for anxious buyers. PDI Since I was not in Delhi, my BIL did an hour long cross-checking my PDI checklist (thanks, Team-BHP!). The staff were helpful and let him poke around as long as he wanted. Checklist Highlights VIN, engine number verified Paint, plastics: Checked for scratches, fit Fluids/tire/chain: Confirmed topped up and tensioned Battery: Terminals checked, voltage measured Toolkit, manuals: Accounted for Delivery Timeline From booking to the flatbed’s arrival-just 10 days! Regular WhatsApp updates, pictures, and call support Final handover: keys, all docs, warranty paper, and Triumph toolkit Arrival in Shillong – The Big Unveiling Imagine the look on my neighbors’ faces when a flatbed arrives with a shrink-wrapped motorcycle. One asked if I imported this bike, I did not correct him Sharing Space with a Ductai heading for Silchar Offloading Flatbed reversed with surgical precision. Mechanic (sent by dealer) supervised unloading. First impressions: Sheer quality-nothing loose, paint gleaming, not a speck of dust. The First Start The moment of truth. Key in slot, ignition on. TFT screen powers up-with a start-up animation that’d put smartphones to shame. Thumbed the starter…the triple fired to life with a sonorous growl that echoed through the hills. Neighbours gathered. Dogs retreated. The RS had arrived.Quality and Build – A Triumph of DetailsPaint and Finish Flawless. No orange peel, swirl marks, or uneven finish. Seamless bodywork joints, Triumph logo laser-etched.Mechanical Welds-clean, uniform Bolts and fasteners-nothing loose or corrosion-prone. Swingarm, forks, and triple clamps-premium engineering evident.Switchgear & Ergonomics Buttons: Well-marked, tactile TFT Display: Stands out-all riding info clearly arranged, even in bright sunlight Mirrors: Wide, vibration-free (at least up to 130km/h) Handlebar levers: Adjustable, firm, perfectly placedThe First 150km – In Shillong’s EmbraceErgonomics Riding position: Upright, relaxed. No wrist pain. Knee bend perfect for my 6.0″ frame. Seat comfort: Plush for rider. Pillion-wouldn’t recommend longer rides (unless you dislike your pillion!).Engine & Performance (Run-in)Triumph’s triple is unlike anything I’ve ever ridden. 765cc, 3 cylinders, 128hp, and 78Nm torque. For now, keeping her under 7,000rpm per manual, but even within limits-impressive thrust. Low-end: Torquey, tractable Mid-range: Building a crescendo, ready to scream Top-end: Yet to experience, but going by whispers on the forum-hold tight!ThrottleButter-smooth, precise. No snatchiness, easy modulate.Gearbox Quickshifter (up & down): Addictive. Shifts are crisp and clean. No false neutrals so far. Clutch: Light, even in trafficBrakes Brembo M50 calipers-best I’ve used. Progressive bite. ABS non-intrusive, kicks in only when needed.Ride & Handling Suspension (Showa Big Piston USD front, Ohlins rear): Supremely tunable. Absorbs Shillong’s rough roads, yet remains poised in corners. Tyres: Stock Pirelli Supercorsas-sticky as honey. Looked for chicken strips; there aren’t many.Heat ManagementEngine heat impressively controlled. Even in slow Shillong traffic (what little there is), never got uncomfortable. Fan kicks in only as required.Features Galore – Toys for the Techie TFT display: Gorgeous, clear, customisable Riding Modes: Rain, Road, Sport, Track, and Rider Configurable. Been using ‘Rain’-balance of safety and fun in Shillong monsoons. Electronic aids: Adjustable traction control. Seems invisible, doesn’t curb fun. ABS: Dual channel, non-intrusive. Lighting: Full LED, night vision crisp. Slipper clutch: Downshifting drama kept in check. The Daily Life – Living with the RSFuel EconomyNot tracking yet, but let’s be real-this bike is for grins, not numbers. Early estimate: 15-18km/l in mixed conditions. Refuelling Tank is a modest 17L. Typically fill up at the start of rides. RON95 strongly recommended, but dealership said 91 is OK in a pinch. Storage Zero. No underseat real estate. Documents could not be squeezed in toolkit. Comfort Easy for daily commutes, short spins. Long rides-will test and update. Suspension comes into its own on Shillong’s twisties. Local Reactions EVERY ride turns heads. Kids wave. Police stopped me once-just to request, please rev it once. Warranty 2 years/unlimited km + another 2 years of mental piece purchased. Insurance Premium-about 24,000/year. Rather high, but understandable for value.Cost of OwnershipInitial Buying Price Street Triple RS: 12.8 lakh ex-showroom Registration + logistics: 26K (BH Registration) Insurance: 24,000 Accessories: 91,000 Total spend: ~14 lakh Running Costs Fuel: About 250/tank Service intervals: 10,000km/1yr (estimate cost: 12,000)Likes & DislikesWhat I Love That triple howl-engine truly magical Handling: Feels “telepathic” in corners Quickshifter: Up/down, pure fun Build quality: Feels expensive, every touch premium Looks: Aggressive, unique, commands attention everywhereWhat I Dislike Pillion seat: Tiny, impractical Stiff ride on potholes, still need to learn suspension settings. No underseat storage Service network-challenging in remote citiesFor The Curious BHPiansQ: Why not the Z900/CB650R? A: Personal preference. Z900 felt clinical. CB650R beautiful, but less exciting. Street Triple’s character won me over, plus Team-BHP wisdom.Q: Service woes in NE? A: Triumph remote support is improving. Nearest dealer in Guwahati. Keeping fingers crossed.Q: Touring plans? A: Rode to Sohra, Will update thread with experiences.Q: Any regrets? A: None so far. The bike exceeds expectations, both in thrill and practicality. Photo Section (Coming Soon)Epilogue – Verdict After First 150kmThe Triumph Street Triple RS is everything I hoped for-spiritual, technical, visceral. Every ride is an adventure. Every day I discover something new-about the bike, about myself as a rider. Team-BHP played a huge role in shaping my choice and journey; I hope this review helps you, whether you’re just looking, planning, or riding. Final Thoughts: If you want a middleweight that thrills, challenges, and rewards you every day, the Street Triple RS should be at the top of your list.
