126-ft Ganesha Idol To Be Installed At Anakapalle

Visakhapatnam: Sri Sampath Vinayaka Utsava Committee is set to install a 126-ft Lakshmi Ganapati idol at NTR Stadium in Anakapalle for the upcoming Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations, beginning August 27.

The elephantine clay idol, being sculpted by renowned local artisan Selfie Kamadhenu Prasad, is expected to become a spiritual and cultural landmark. The festivities will continue for 23 days till September 22, featuring devotional programmes, homams and cultural performances with the participation of spiritual groups and temple committees.

Telugu Desam state executive secretary Dadi Ratnakar, who reviewed the arrangements, said the installation of such a grand idol would enhance Anakapalle’s cultural reputation across Telugu states. He lauded the committee’s coordination and said the celebrations would draw thousands of devotees.

Festival conveners Buddha Bhuloka Naidu, Kamadhenu Prasad and Adari Sai expressed pride in bringing the huge idol to life, calling it a once-in-a-generation moment for Anakapalle. They urged devotees to attend the celebrations with their families.

Organisers have also sought support from the government and police for smooth conduct of the festival.
