Hyderabad: Telangana Medical Council raided four clinics run by five quacks in Station Ghanpur, Jangaon.Meanwhile, upon knowing that the officials were conducting inspections, five quacks — Abhilash, Pogu Jogeshwar, Kishanraju, Sanjeev, and Mallesh– shut their clinics and fled. TGM officials will register cases against all the ten accused quacks at nearby police stations under the NMC and TSMPR Act.In one of the cases, an individual known as Dr R Srinivas, BHMS (homoeopathic doctor), was found running the clinic in the name of a retired Army Major (Major Dr Lakshminarayana). He was also illegally prescribing antipsychotic medicines and antibiotics to patients. TGMC officials will be writing a letter to the council of the AYUSH ministry regarding Dr Srinivas using antipsychotic drugs. In another case, a diagnostic centre, known as Glory Diagnostics, was being run by a group of unqualified staff in the absence of the in-charge, Dr Ch Pradeep Kumar, MD (Pathology). TGMC officials said that Kumar would not even visit the centre, and technicians employed by him were found conducting tests during the raids, charging high fees, and giving commissions to RMPs.The third case pertains to two brothers from the Shivunipalli area, P Sadanandam and P Sampath, who allegedly posed as doctors, prescribing antibiotics and blood tests to patients. They also used to receive commissions from the Glory Diagnostics centre. Officials said the duo would also illegally administer steroid injections. In another case, at Palkurthi road, an alleged quack named Vidyasagar Nagaraju was found giving antibiotics and injecting steroids to patients in the name of modern medicine without any qualifications in medical stores.“A show cause notice will also be issued to Dr Ch Pradeep Kumar, who is in charge of Glory Diagnostics, and an explanation will be sought before the ethics committee. We will also be writing to the DMHO, Jangaon, to take action against the irregularities of Glory Diagnostic Center and other fake doctors,” said Dr V Naresh Kumar, Public Relations Committee member, TGMC.
