Kavitha accuses Harish Rao and Santosh Rao of accumulating huge assets blinding KCR, being hand-in-glove with Revanth

In what could create ripples in the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) circles, the party MLC and Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha blamed BRS MLA and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and her cousin Joginapally Santosh Rao as the men behind former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) being ‘framed’ in the P.C. Ghose Commission of Inquiry on Kaleshwaram project.

Ms. Kavitha, who arrived in Hyderabad from the USA on Monday (September 1, 2025) morning, made some sensational comments at a press conference claiming that Mr KCR was being made a scapegoat in the Kaleshwaram controversy. “But there is a meek reaction to the allegations from the party. Shouldn’t Telangana burn with such allegations on a person whose only dream was Telangana,” she asked.

She pointed to a former MP and a contractor as those behind the “corruption mark” that has tarnished the party’s image. “Why are officers who have amassed hundreds of crores not being enquired into? Instead, the entire focus is on KCR,” she said. She claimed that Mr. Harish Rao’s removal as Irrigation Minister during the second term of the BRS was a consequence of his alleged role in the Kaleshwaram irregularities.

Ms. Kavitha went further to claim that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was “protecting” Mr. Harish Rao and Mr. Santosh Rao, suggesting that all three were hand-in-glove to target Mr KCR. “My father is being unfairly targeted while the real culprits are being shielded,” she charged.

The BRS MLC, visibly emotional, broke into tears during her media interaction while describing her father as a monumental figure of Telangana and who always thought about the State’s interests. “I just can’t digest the fact that KCR is being blamed and my father never ran after money.”

Expressing deep anguish, Ms Kavitha said Mr. KCR will now be equated with a CBI case and it hurts her. In such a scenario, what is the use of the party?” she asked emotionally. She claimed that for speaking her heart out, she will be attacked on social media channels but the bitter bill has to be taken by the BRS cadre for the party’s future.
