Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has requested the Centre to sanction a 12-lane greenfield road network connecting Bharat Future City in Hyderabad to Machilipatnam Port via Amaravati.
Reddy, who is on a visit to New Delhi, met Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of National Highways and Road Transport, on Tuesday night and submitted a formal request in this regard.
The development of a greenfield road network connecting the capital cities of the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was assured in the AP Reorganisation act 2004.
As Telangana does not have a seaport, the Chief Minister appealed to Gadkari to sanction a greenfield road to facilitate the goods transportation from Hyderabad to the port directly. About 118 km of the proposed greenfield road will be passing through Telangana while the remaining part will be in Andhra Pradesh.
The Union Minister assured that he would send an official team to Hyderabad to study the feasibility of Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Bandar Port Greenfield Road project. A review meeting will be held in Hyderabad on September 22 with NH and NHAI officials on the greenfield road project between AP and Telangana states.
Reddy informed the union minister about the 90 per cent completion of the land acquisition for Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (North) and requested financial aid as well as cabinet approvals to take up the works expeditiously. He also requested for the grant of all the permissions for RRR (South) so that the works of the RRR (North) will also be taken up simultaneously.
The pending permission for the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor on Mannanur-Srisailam road connecting Hyderabad with Srisailam, which falls within the boundaries of the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, was discussed in the meeting.
