BHPian Reinhard recently shared this with other enthusiasts: An update after quite some time. Last year has been pretty hectic on a lot of fronts!Recent Service UpdateGot a routine service done at trusted BHPian @asit.kulkarni93’s workshop (he looked after all cars since years now. Nexon finally moved over now having come out of the extended warranty period. As a byproduct of overall car ownerships so far + now the long standing fuss free arrangement with Asit – I’ll never be buying an Extended warranty for any car (if I buy a new car at all ever in life i.e.). Its just a tool for the car-maker to bind you to the ASC for a long time, while the real value addition is negligible. If one has a dependable FNG (or even unfriendly but knowledgeable) already – extended warranty is not worth it.Routine inspection & general service, lubrication, cleaning.Oil+filter & air-filter replaced.Brake inspection – thanks to the Kolhapur law-enforcement-team towing away the car illegally (from a designated parking area!) for good 6-7 kms with hand-brake applied, I had a feeling the rear brakes were shot. Asit checked & confirmed the rear cylinders were well beyond their prime. Both replaced. And now the braking is improved + hand-brake is now properly calibrated.Wiper blade change to regular Bosch clear advantage (so far I used to go with the Tata OEM AeroTwin frameless ones at the ASC.Total was somewhere around 10k including parts, consumables & labour.Car runs a LOT smoother, eager & that has resulted in me suddenly being a bit faster on the roads already.ODO is comatose around 21-22K KMs right now – mainly because a lot of the running is presently done by the 2 stable-mates that are well over 10 years old each – the Polo & Jetta – and so I’m driving them as much as I can before someone bans them .The Nexon continues to be in a pseudo hibernation with just weekend drives, to be the long term ride long after the other 2 go into Sunset. After 6 years (Yeah! Ironhide turned 6 in August 2025) – one of the LED brake lamp bulbs that I had put in – died. Its the first failure of an AliExpress sourced item that I remember of. Ordered its replacement from Durvient & will install it at home tomorrow. Everything else – continues to work fine. Cheers! Check outBHPian commentsfor more insights and information.
