Actor Dinesh Phadnis, who played the role of Inspector Fredericks in Sony TV's popular TV show CID, has passed away. This has been confirmed by Dinesh's friend and co-star Dayanand Shetty. Talking to Divya Bhaskar, Dayanand said, 'Dinesh was ill for a long time. He did not have a heart attack. Had some health problems. He himself went to the hospital and was admitted. After admission, when he started receiving treatment, other complications started to occur.

The last rites will be performed this afternoon at Borivali East
According to reports, 57-year-old Dinesh's cause of death was multiple organ failure. He breathed his last at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai at around 12 o'clock on Monday night. His last rites will be performed at Borivali East in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon.

Health was improving for the last two days: Dayanand
According to Dayanand, Dinesh's condition was critical when he was admitted to the hospital. He was kept on ventilator support. However, Dinesh's condition improved after 1 day. His body was responding well. Family members and close friends hoped that he would recover soon and return home.

'When I lived with him, I could not stop laughing': Dayanand
Daya continued, 'Whenever we were with him, he made us laugh so much. He was the most loved member of the team. He and I were friends for many years. Whenever we were with him, we never stopped laughing.

He was always smiling, this was his specialty. He was a very special soul. It has many special memories with it. Today we can only remember those memories.

Dinesh Phadnis gained special recognition from the television show CID which started in 1998. In the first few episodes, he played the role of strict police inspector Fredericks, though later he began to be introduced as a comedian. The show was telecast on Sony TV till the year 2018.

Even during the Covid lockdown, some episodes of CID were re-aired. Apart from TV shows, Dinesh is also an important part of Marathi films.
