A 1994 batch IPS officer B. Shivadhar Reddy assumed charge as Director General of Police, Telangana, on Wednesday (October 1, 2025). He is the sixth DGP of the State, replacing Jitender – who served as the DGP for 15 months.

Mr. Reddy served as the first Chief of Intelligence Department, Telanganain the rank of Inspector General. He was credited with planning the operation that neutralised gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem in 2016. He was brought back to the intelligence posting by the Congress Government in December 2023 in the rank of Additional DGP and promoted to the rank of Director General in August 2024.

The Government issued orders transferring and appointing him as Director General of Police (Coordination) on September 26, 2025. He was also given full additional charge as Director General of Police (HoPF).
