A quick visit to the Maruti Suzuki showroom to check out the Victoris

A quick visit to the Maruti Suzuki showroom to check out the Victoris BHPian aaggoswami recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Here are my observations :1. The car is long, but height feels a bit less for an SUV. 2. Hood height is good, gives a good stance. 3. Rear seats are quite comfortable with good legroom. 4. Couldn’t open boot as after the Thar showroom incident somewhere else in the country, the car had all electricals disabled. 5.Driver’s seat is quite comfortable, good support for those with broad shoulders and heavy built. 6. Driver’s footwell is wider than what I expected. 7. Steering wheel is good to hold, the new design is refreshing. 8. Hood weight is reasonably heavy, car seems well built as compared to earlier Maruti cars. Same as current Grand Vitara on sale. 9. Engine bay is spacious, clearly the car can take bigger engine. 10. The wheel wells are not having open spaces covered by plastic fender lining. Baleno for example has exposed plastic fender lining, if that plastic part dislodges, easy entry for water into engine bay, not so with Victoris. Another example is my 4th generation City, plastic fender lining lost means water hits engine bay and if it happens on LHS, ECU could be easily hit by water splashing from wheel. Good thing by Maruti they got this covered. 11. Engine has plastic sump guard, good thing again. 12. Car looks good in person, front end is not futuristic or overly done like Creta. Contemporary design, complimented by size. 13. Rear looks overdone, stands out but I felt its odd. But again styling is subjective, but it does stand out in a world of Creta/Brezza. 14. Height is slightly less in my view as compared to length and makes it feels ever so slightly like station wagon than SUV. But not a deal breaker. 15. The biggest drawback while sitting in stationary car on showroom floor : outside noise insulation. After closing doors, ambient showroom noise did filter in the cabin. This is where Hyundai has a big advantage. This noise filtering into cabin robs of a premium or good experience. Had a ride in Aura cab, and can say that Aura has got better ambinet noise insulation than Victoris. Maruti should have improved onto this as NVH has been majorly pointed out since long for Maruti. 16. Power window switches are still that from old design, nothing new. Same goes for door lock and door opening lever inside cabin. Overall, a very VFM deal, and Maruti has a winner on its cards.Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
