Hyderabad: The disappearance of a seven-year-old girl in Hyderabad ended in tragedy on Wednesday afternoon when her lifeless body was discovered inside a rooftop water tank at her grandmother’s house, with her hands bound behind her back. The chilling discovery has sparked suspicions of foul play and prompted a full-scale police investigation.
The victim, identified as Humeyni Sumaiya, had been visiting her grandmother’s home along with her parents, Mohammad Azeem and Shabana Begum. On Tuesday evening, when Sumaiya could not be found, her worried family lodged a missing complaint. Through the night, police teams, investigators and concerned neighbours searched tirelessly but failed to trace the girl.
Mother’s Heartbreaking Discovery
On Wednesday afternoon, Sumaiya’s mother returned to the house to conduct one final check. To her horror, she found her daughter’s body floating inside the rooftop water tank. The child’s hands were tied behind her back, a detail that immediately ruled out the possibility of an accident.
Police rushed to the spot and confirmed the grim suspicions. “We are investigating all angles including that of any family dispute. It is a definite case of murder, and we have altered the sections from missing to murder,” Police Inspector Anjaneyulu.
The body has since been shifted for a post-mortem examination, while forensic teams have been deployed to gather evidence from the scene. Officials confirmed that the matter is now being probed as a suspicious death and possible homicide.
In other news, Hyderabad police have booked actress Dimple Hayathi and her husband, David, for allegedly harassing their domestic help after she demanded her salary. The Odisha-native woman, who had been working at their residence, accused the couple of repeated abuse, food denial, and humiliation.
Matters escalated on Monday when their pet dog barked at her, prompting her to record the incident. David allegedly snatched and broke her phone, threatening her and her family. The woman escaped and filed a complaint at Film City Police Station. The couple now faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
