Massive traffic jams on Hyderabad highways, heavy rush at metro stations after Dasara holidays


As Dasara holidays ended, thousands returning to Hyderabad caused heavy congestion on major highways, including the Hyderabad–Vijayawada and Warangal–Hyderabad routes. Traffic stretched for kilometres, while the LB Nagar metro station also saw huge crowds on Monday morning

Massive traffic jams on Hyderabad highways, heavy rush at metro stations after Dasara holidays

Hyderabad: With the Dasara festivities concluding, thousands of people in hundreds of vehicles, including private cars, cabs and buses returning from their native places, flooded the highways leading to Hyderabad, causing massive traffic jams on Sunday and Monday.

As schools and colleges reopened, the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway witnessed severe congestion, especially near Choutuppal, where traffic stretched for several kilometres and moved at a snail’s pace till Monday morning.


Local police worked continuously to regulate the flow of vehicles.

A similar situation prevailed on the Warangal–Hyderabad highway, with long queues of vehicles near Bibinagar and the Gudur toll plaza, where traffic piled up for several kilometres.

Meanwhile, heavy rush was also reported at the LB Nagar metro station on Monday, with hundreds of passengers queuing up to board trains to their workplaces and educational institutions.
