Telangana judges’ association condemns attack on Chief Justice of India in Supreme Court

Hyderabad: The Telangana judges’ association (TJA) strongly condemned the attack on the Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai in the Supreme Court on Monday.President G Rajagopal and general secretary K Murali Mohan said the attack on the CJI in a public court is nothing but an attack on the entire Indian judicial system — a direct assault on the rule of law and the sanctity of our democracy. The TJA also demanded strict and immediate legal action against the person responsible, further ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.“An assault on a judge is nothing but an assault on the judiciary and a wound on the very heart of democracy. Such incidents within its precincts are deeply regrettable and unacceptable in a civilised society,” the association stated in a release. The judges’ association said the Supreme Court of India stands as the symbol of justice, integrity, and public faith, and all the judges unanimously condemn such brutal and barbarous acts.“Such threats, intimidation, and disgraceful acts will never shake the courage or commitment of judges in the country, and the morale and independence of the judiciary will remain unshaken. We shall always stand steadfast in defence of justice, law, and the Constitution,” added the release.
