Rs 300 crore dal trade case: IT sleuths raid traders in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

HYDERABAD: The Income Tax Investigation Wing, Hyderabad, on Tuesday conducted searches across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in connection with a Rs 300-crore dal trade case.The searches were carried out at 25 premises in Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Hyderabad, covering four major dal traders.Officials said the trading companies were engaged in large-scale cash transactions during the previous government in Andhra Pradesh, including withdrawals made around the 2024 Assembly elections.Sources said the firms had obtained tenders from the Civil Supplies Department. Verificationis on to find out whether these traders failed to supply dal under the Public Distribution System (PDS) despite receiving payments.Among those raided were Hindustan Traders in Visakhapatnam and V care Group in Kurnool. Multiple teams of the Income Tax Department conducted the searches simultaneously and seized key documents related to the alleged irregularities.
