The launch of the first Genesis model in India will come more than a decade after Hyundai first introduced the Genesis car in India at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Since then, there have been rumors about Hyundai’s intentions to bring its luxury car brand to India, but no concrete progress has been made so far.

Hyundai has already trademarked the design of the Genesis GV80 in India

Genesis’ current global lineup includes several sedans and SUVs. The sedan lineup includes the G70, G80 and the flagship G90, while the SUV lineup includes the fully electric GV60, GV70, GV80 and GV80 coupe. The company has previously registered design trademarks for the GV80 and GV80 Coupe in India, but it is not yet clear which SUV will hit our market first.

It is possible that the first Genesis model for India will have a hybrid powertrain. As part of its Investor Day presentation, Hyundai confirmed that it will launch 8 hybrid electric vehicles by FY 2030, which will be available in segments ranging from compact to premium. Overseas, Genesis’ sedan and SUV portfolio offers a mix of hybrid as well as full-electric powertrains.
