BHPian dkaile recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Exterior LED Bulb Upgrades -(continued from previous post) While in the boot, I could also see some Rear Washer hardware – As also some Made in Indonesia, Denso parts – This is the Minda Boot Tail Light part that needs to be upgraded to a lighted one from a reflector one – This is the OE Right Hand side assembly part # – and this is the Left Hand Side one. Toyota even has the nerve to write Low on it ~ Lolz – These are the Remaining 2 wires that will be tapped – from the original Reverse Light Connector’s (+) & (-), whose connector will then be taped up, and this will complete the 3 wire tap for the upgraded part. Notice the 2 of the 3 nuts to be attached marked by red arrows – The Boot Plastic Cover fitted back as original – The Before picture of the License Plate Lights – And then the After with the Osram LED’s – Another angle of the Before – And the After, gelling perfectly with the overall theme – Next, the Rear Bumper Reflector upgrade to a full fledged, 4 wire, Parking + Brake + Matrix Indicator Light – These lights were procured from my friendly neighborhood accessory wallah at a princely cost of 800/- bucks. And a bench test was most necessary, as always with each of my accessories – A Rear View of how these are attached. They are held in place by 1 screw and a plastic lock at the other end (marked by a red arrow). Also one of the reverse parking sensors is visible in the photo – After attaching these below, the connections needs to be tapped into the Rear Brake Light, which is held in place by just 2 nut screws and one sliding tab, which is marked by the arrow – This is it’s main Connector, and the 4 wires are tapped from it (after removing some of the black insulating tape visible), which are the Parking (+), Brake (+), Indicator (+) and a common Negative (-) for all. The tapping photos, I somehow forgot to take, but it is self explanatory and not some rocket science – This is another view of the Brake Light, 2 bolts and where those bolts go through, the connector socket, a push tab and a sliding tab, all marked by the arrows – A closer view of the Sliding Tab to lock the brake light in place – The Rear Indicator Bulb, is different from the front one as it is a wedge type one, and it’s specifications are 12V 21W WY21W. None of the front or rear indicator bulbs were upgraded to LED’s for now, as I found them sufficient and there would be no change of color – A close up view of the Rear Bumper Parking/Brake + Matrix Indicator (a video of the same will follow along with the complete rear lights upgraded) – I also noticed a SOS Light and Button inside the Front Cabin Lights – There is a lot of noise around the stock LED Headlights, which are sealed type and not user serviceable or bulb replaceable BTW (as someone was asking), about them being a little weak. I found them quite adequate. Here is a view of the LOW BEAM, from a driver’s perspective – And then the HIGH BEAM. The beam patterns of both the High and Low beams are also highlighted by the arrows – All the original bulbs were carefully marked and stored safely for any future use or return to original – Within a couple of days of delivery the HSRP had arrived, and I fitted them myself at home. The hole sizes were marked, which were 21cm centre to centre apart, and a 8mm hole was drilled in the plates as the fitting nuts on the body were for 6mm screws. Here the Rear License Plate area is measured – And then the Front (having the exact same specs) – 6 mm Stainless Steel Screws are also compatible but not allowed – 6 mm SS bolt being tested. But final job was done by original rivets which were supplied along with the HSRP’s – I already had a Rivet Gun handy and it did the job. I am not posting final pictures of the riveted HSRP’s because I have already posted them many times before in this thread – The beautiful Chrome Innova Hycross logo on the tail gate – MUCH MUCH more to follow. Cheers… Read BHPian comments for more insights and information.
