We are all aware that Hyundai is diligently working on its electric Creta SUV, set to hit the roads in early 2025. While the Ioniq 5 and Kona EV cater to the premium EV segment, the upcoming Creta EV marks the brand’s initial foray into the mass market. Test mules, both camouflaged and uncovered, have unveiled intriguing design details. The latest information reveals that the Hyundai Creta EV will boast a 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem and a new-generation electric motor borrowed from the global-spec Kona EV. Positioned on the front axle, this motor is capable of delivering 138bhp and 255Nm of torque.

In comparison to Maruti Suzuki’s anticipated eVX electric SUVoffering two battery pack options – 48kWh and 60kWh, the Creta EV will feature a smaller battery. It’s worth noting that the battery size is even smaller than the MG ZS EV, which utilizes a 50.3kWh battery. Assessing its electric range and performance would be premature at this stage.

The Hyundai Creta EV prototype, spotted in South Korea, showcased significant deviations from the existing model. It introduces new design elements at the front, accompanied by a faux exhaust outlet. The C-shaped LED DRLs are notably larger than the current units. The electric version of the SUV is expected to incorporate a closed-off front grille, redesigned headlamps, distinct alloy wheels, and updated wraparound taillamps and rear bumper.

Details regarding the Creta EV’s interior remain undisclosed, but there are expectations that it will share similarities with the forthcoming Creta facelift scheduled for January 16, 2024. Recent sightings suggest that the electric SUV will feature a gear lever on the center console, reminiscent of the Ioniq 5. Additionally, the SUV is likely to come equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster.

More details on the Hyundai Creta electric SUV are expected to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
