Violent rowdy-sheeters’ brawl triggers high alert at Chanchalguda jail

Hyderabad: Tense scenes erupted at the Central Prison in Chanchalguda after a violent clash reportedly broke out between two rowdy-sheeters on Wednesday. Following the incident, police declared a high alert inside and outside the jail premises.

As per available information, a remand prisoner identified as Jabri, a rowdy-sheeter, was attacked by another inmate Dastagiri, also a rowdy-sheeter, in the ‘Mulaqat Room’. Jabri, who sustained serious injuries, was immediately shifted to a hospital by the jail authorities.

During the scuffle, glass panels in the meeting room were reportedly damaged. Preliminary inquiries suggest that a previous enmity between Dastagiri and Jabri led to the attack.

Prison authorities have launched an internal investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the local police said they had no information about the incident.
