Prime the car; without starting the car, let the engine electronics prime up and be ready. 3. Crank the car to start the engine 4. While the car is warming up, adjust the seat (If Im using wifey’s car) and belt up 5. Strap up loose luggage, backpack, laptop bag, lunch box what not.. 6. Connect phone to charger (my journey takes around 90 minutes to office) and set the playlist 7. Figure out the route to office using Google Maps, choose the one which feels right. This depends on the car I am driving that day (oh! the privilege when you have 4 cars and just one who drives those) 8. Check for tyre pressure, fuel, mirrors and the time 9. Start off with low revs till the car reaches optimal operating temperatureHighway Drives:1. Walk around the car to check for tyre condition, any other surface issues 2. Check engine oil and other vital fluids if the drive is gonna be longer than 300 km 3. Follow the City Drive checklist 4. Additionally, check if every passenger in the car is belted. I have a policy that the car stops when someone is not belted. Then, either the passenger who perfers to stay unbelted gets out of the car or wears the belt to move ahead. While these checklists have been refined over a period, I’ve followed the ritual every single day of my 32 year driving experience. A couple of other “rituals” that I usually follow after a drive 1. Idle the car for at least a minute after city drives or a couple of minutes depending on how much Ive been speeding before the stop (All my cars are Turbo Charged) 2.
