Vijayawada: APGENCO managing director and APSECM CEO S Nagalakshmi urged all major energy-intensive sectors, industries, and institutions to participate in the State Energy Conservation Awards (SECA)-2025 and demonstrate their commitment to energy efficiency and climate-responsible practices. She said the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), under the energy department, is organising SECA for the fifth consecutive year. The initiative aims to foster healthy competition among high-energy-consuming sectors and recognise top performers that excelled in energy management, adopted advanced efficient technologies, and achieved measurable reductions in carbon emissions.“SECA has evolved into a prestigious platform that motivates industries and institutions to embrace modern, energy-efficient systems and strengthen their contribution to the State’s climate goals,” Nagalakshmi said, urging all eligible organisations to use the opportunity to present their achievements at the state level. For SECA-2025, APSECM invited applications based on specific energy consumption and connected-load benchmarks. Thermal power plants and cement industries consuming 30,000 MTOE or more per year, pharmaceutical industries with consumption above 1,000 MTOE, engineering colleges (government and private) with connected loads of 50 kW and above, and hotels with similar load thresholds are eligible to apply. APSRTC bus depots and bus stands, municipalities, urban local bodies, and urban development authorities across the State have also been asked to present their energy-saving measures.Nagalakshmi noted that energy efficiency has become one of the govt’s most effective strategies to reduce demand and promote sustainability under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Secretary Vijayanand. She said entries will be evaluated on actual energy savings, reductions in specific energy consumption, adoption of sustainable technologies, and the robustness of energy-management practices implemented during the assessment period. Participation in SECA not only brings recognition but also encourages more organisations to adopt best practices that lead to a greener, energy-efficient Andhra Pradesh, she added.Applications can be submitted through the official SECA-2025 online portal, which provides detailed guidelines, evaluation criteria, and formats. The portal is available at the designated SECA webpage, and the last date for submission is December 5, 2025.The CEO called on all eligible sectors to actively engage with the initiative and contribute to strengthening energy security, climate resilience, and a sustainable future for the State.
