Apple and Samsung users, beware: the Indian government has issued a high-risk alert for both companies, warning of multiple flaws that could compromise your data and device.
According to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Apple products have several vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to access your sensitive information and more. These vulnerabilities affect iOSiPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and the Safari browser.
“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) conditions, bypass authentication, gain elevated privileges, and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted systems,” read a statement from CERT-In.
CERT-In previously also reported that Samsung products have similar flaws that could let attackers bypass security measures, access your data, and execute harmful code on your device. These flaws affect Samsung mobile Android versions 11, 12, 13, and 14.
Users are advised to be cautious when using their devices, especially when browsing the web, downloading apps, or opening attachments. They should also keep an eye out for any suspicious activity or messages on their devices. And if there’s an update for any of these devices, be sure to upgrade to the newer version as it may contain crucial patches.
While Apple and Samsung are possible are among the most trusted smartphone brands in the tech world, they are not immune to cyberattacks. Users should always be vigilant and aware of the potential risks that come with using any device.
