Bollywood actress Kajol is set to make her Telugu debut. Though she acted in a couple of Tamil films that were later dubbed into Telugu, she has never appeared in a straight Telugu film. Now, the senior actress is likely to join the sets of Spirit, starring Prabhas.
“Spirit,” one of the most-anticipated biggies, recently went on the floors. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who gained cult status among the youth with his blockbusters Arjun Reddy and Animal, is mounting this film on a massive scale with a huge ensemble cast. He is reportedly in talks with Kajol for a crucial role.
The 51-year-old actress recently made headlines for her controversial remark about marriage on a talk show she is hosting alongside Twinkle Khanna. Her comment that “marriage should have an expiry date” invited trolling from many. Known for her exceptional range and iconic performances in Bollywood blockbusters like DDLJ, Kajol has in recent years shifted to supporting characters. So, she is said to be considering this key role in “Spirit.”
Her husband, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, also acted in the Telugu industry, most recently with a pivotal role in Rajamouli’s RRR.
Spirit shooting underway
Meanwhile, “Spirit” is continuing its regular shoot in Hyderabad. The current schedule also saw Prabhas filming for two days. Triptii Dimri plays the female lead in the film. Produced by T Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the pan-Indian big-budgeted film is aiming for 2027 release.
