Got myself a Yamaha Aerox scooter: What I liked & what could be better

Got myself a Yamaha Aerox scooter: What I liked & what could be better BHPian Hrishi_111 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Hello BHPians, Thank you all for your valuable insights on owning the Aerox. I finally acquired mine last week! Why Another Two-Wheeler?I own a 2007 Honda Unicorn, which still runs incredibly smooth. However, at 45 years old, I find myself getting tired of frequent clutch and gear operations in Pune’s dense traffic. While I plan to keep the Unicorn, I started looking for an automatic scooter for occasional office commutes (20 km one way), with enough storage for my office bag, helmet, jacket, gloves, and scarf. What Do I Like About the Aerox?Smooth engine and transmissionAmple floorboard space for your legs (though not for carrying luggage)Generous under-seat storageFront fuel fillerEfficient Auto Start-Stop systemSubtle styling that suits most personalitiesManageable weightUpright riding positionICE Fluo Vermillion colorSmart keyThe infamous rear suspension. It transmits every bump directly to your spine. While I haven’t experienced any issues with the front suspension bottoming out, I am concerned about riding on rough roads. I have to navigate very carefully and at low speeds, even on average Pune roads. I was aware of this issue, but not its extent. Interestingly, I didn’t notice this during multiple test rides, likely because I had a pillion. With a passenger, the scooter feels softer and more compliant over bad roads; the problem arises when riding solo.Bluetooth connectivity and app. Compared to my Ather, which has a touchscreen and built-in Google navigation, the Aerox’s connectivity features are far behind in terms of user experience. The slightly inclined seat causes the rider to slide forward, which is made worse by the OEM seat cover.Braking is just adequate, not particularly impressive. The protruding silencer is prone to scratches in dense traffic and parking situations. If any fellow BHPians in Pune have contacts for replacing the stock suspension with DB or other aftermarket options, please PM me. I plan to upgrade soon. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking! Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
