Jangaon: BRS cadre staged an innovative protest by displaying a flex banner welcoming defected Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, who was scheduled to attend the local Tirumalanatha Swamy Temple committee oath-taking ceremony on Saturday.
The flexi banner, which featured photos of both MLA Kadiyam Srihari and former MLA Tatikonda Rajaiah, became a topic of discussion as Srihari had recently submitted a written statement to the Speaker confirming his continued membership in the BRS. The banner went viral on social media.
Mild tension prevailed at Station Ghanpur when the local police attempted to remove the flex banner and faced opposition from the BRS leaders. The police detained several BRS cadres. The incident has heated up politics once again in the constituency.
It might be noted that Srihari, who was facing a precarious situation in which he could not assert to which party he belonged to, has been subjected to continuous criticism from the BRS ranks.
Despite joining the Congress party, Srihari informed the Assembly Speaker through an affidavit that he was still from the BRS. Party working president KT Rama Rao and former MLA Rajaiah also had levelled sharp criticism against him.
Former MLA Rajaiah challenged Srihari saying that if the latter had self-respect, he should immediately resign from his MLA post and contest elections on the Congress party symbol.
