Bhuvanagiri Member of Parliament Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy accused the Union Minister and BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy of indulging in political theatrics to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of working for Telangana’s interests.

Reacting to Mr. Kishan Reddy’s open letter questioning Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over the implementation of six guarantees, welfare schemes and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Vision Document, after the Congress came to power in Telangana, he said the recent Gram Panchayat election results showcased how people were receptive to the Congress government.

Mr. Reddy advised the Union Minister to ponder over why the Prime Minister Modi had summoned BJP MPs and reportedly reprimanded them over the party’s poor performance in Telangana. He claimed that PM Modi had also taken note of Mr. Kishan Reddy’s role, both as former State BJP president and now as a Union Minister, in the party’s declining position in the State.

“Unable to explain BJP’s failures, Kishan Reddy is now writing open letters to impress Prime Minister Modi,” the MP alleged. He questioned why Mr. Kishan Reddy did not write similar letters during the 10-year rule of the BRS when, according to him, Telangana’s resources were looted and large-scale corruption. “If the BJP truly loved Telangana, it would have ensured that the State did not turn from a surplus State into a debt-ridden one,” the MP said.

The Congress MP further challenged the BJP to explain how much central funding it had secured for Telangana after winning eight Lok Sabha seats in the State. “What happened to Metro Phase-2, Musi rejuvenation and the Regional Ring Road? Mr. Kishan Reddy must answer,” he demanded.

Stating that the BJP has not seriously thought about Telangana’s future, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said it was Kishan Reddy’s responsibility as a Union Minister to bring more funds to the State.
