Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) arrested four people, including three alleged drug peddlers, for their involvement in a drug network.H-NEW officials said the accused — Ummidi Immanuel, an event manager from Kondapur; Sushmitha Devi, a software professional at a prominent firm; and G Sai Kumar, a gig worker — along with a consumer, T Taraka, were nabbed in Chikkadpally on Dec 23. Police seized 22 grams of OG, five grams of MDMA, six LSD blots and six grams of ecstasy pills, collectively valued at Rs 3.12 lakh, from their possessionAccording to police, Immanuel and Sushmitha were in a live-in relationship. Immanuel, who was once a drug user, allegedly turned peddler and, along with Sushmitha, sourced drugs and sold them to clients.Immanuel reportedly procured drugs from multiple sources, including the dark web, using the Tor browser. “Payments were made through Binance and Trust Wallet by converting money into cryptocurrency. The drugs were delivered to Immanuel through courier services by absconding suppliers,” an H-NEW official said.The contraband was then sold at higher rates to known consumers in Hyderabad. “In Immanuel’s absence, Sushmitha managed the operations and acted as a sub-peddler. She used Sai Kumar as a transporter and distributor to deliver drugs to consumers and also handled financial transactions,” police said.Police added that Sushmitha, who earned around Rs 25,000 a month as a software professional, received payments directly into her bank account and independently managed the drug peddling operations under Immanuel’s directions when he was not present.
