He even did a cameo in Bha Bha Ba alongside Dileep. Now, his long awaited Vrusshabha, a Malayalam – Telugu bilingual released Today. Latest discuss about the movie in detail.

Plot:

King Vijayendra Vrusshabha (Mohanlal) is the undisputed ruler of Trilingadesam, which is a divine abode of Lord Shiva’s Spatika Lingam. Due to the energy produced by Lord, the entire kingdom is prosperous. An Asura clan attacks for Spatika Lingam and he defeats them along with his wife Trilochana Devi (Ragini Dwivedi). During the fight, Vrusshabha attacks a fleeing asura and accidentally, kills a young boy in front of his mother’s eyes. She curses him that he too will lose his kid in front of his eyes.

Vrusshabha’s son is born during a bad time and priest suggests huge homam to control the bad effects. But Vrusshabha is haunted by the image of the women who cursed him. Suddenly, his son is lost in Manasvini River during a festival. In recent times, Vrusshabha is reborn as businessman Aadi Deva Varma and his son Dev (Samarjit Lankesh) is ready give life for his Dad. But Aadi Deva is haunted again by his past life and his son starts a journey to find solution. He goes to his hometown and suddenly decides to kill his own father. Why he did so? What is the reason behind it all? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Mohanlal is a great actor no doubt but he has a tendency to act in some forgettable roles and films. But he accepted this story while at the time, he is in red hot form. Hence, this feels like a big letdown by an actor and star of his calibre. Even his peformance is very basic and this is like sleep-walking from him. He is good in Vrusshabha King portions but not so in businessman portions.

Samarjit Lankesh is truely wooden in this role. Standing in front of an actor like Mohanlal, he needed to work more on his postures, dialogues, expressions. He is the leading hero and anti-hero of this film and it felt like a super downgrade to watch such an actor while watching Mohanlal. In fact, it is other way around, as all other actors are equally bad and wooden except for the legend and to an extent Ayyappa P Sharma.

Even production values, technical values are so bad that it looks like a TV movie. The sets and grandiose that the makers wanted to present on big screen is so amateur that you can see that the makers are trying to cheat with low quality sets as grand visuals. Each scene and frame are constructed so poorly that the audience member feel frustrated about the story progression. It never engages and every idea seems to be too silly to even be taken seriously.

Nanndda Kishore tried hard to convince us that the story has emotions that string our heart but the scenes are poorly written and executed that even children would not find it amusing to watch. On the whole, the movie is a complete misfire and only saving grace to an extent is Mohanlal’s screen presence.

Bottomline:

A highly forgettable movie from Mohanlal.

Rating: 1.75/5
