Drove from Pune to Indore & back: Routes taken and road updates BHPian pjbiju recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Dec 2025 Update12-Dec-2025 – Pune to Indore16-Dec-2025 Indore to PunePune to Indore Route Taken: Aundh – Nashik Phata – Sinnar – Nashik (Bytco Chowk, Turn Right) – NH 60 (Agra-Mumbai Highway) – Indore. Started at 5:30 a.m. and reached Indore by 8:30 p.m. with three food stops and two fuel stops. Road Conditions Pune to Nashik: There are still sections where 4-laning and constructions are going on. Roads have a lot of patches (layers of tar peeled off) after Sangamner till Sinnar. It is atrocious that they are still collecting toll in this section. Nashik to Indore: Plenty of speed breakers before every junction while in MH. Most of them are marked by a road sign, but some are not. The road quality is also bad in MH when compared to MP. Roads are much better once you enter MP. I did not drive into Indore city since I took the Ring Road from Rau. Traffic inside the Indore City is pathetic as always. You will notice that almost every car in the city has dings and scratches all over. People simply treat the cars as a means to get from place A to B. Indore to Pune Route Taken: Indore – Dhule – Sambhajinagar – Sinnar via Samruddhi Mahamarg – Pune Started at 6:00 a.m. from Indore and reached Pune by 9:30 p.m. with 5 food stops (early Poha breakfast, breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner) and 3 fuel stops. Road Conditions The 4-laned road from Dhule to SN is quite good and had very little traffic, especially truck traffic compared to Agra-Mumbai road. The Kannad ghat section is still a 2-lane road but in good condition. Overall, we found this route to be better than going to Nashik and taking NH60 from there. The drawback with this route is the lack of eating options and petrol pumps. You can stop at the rest/fuel station stop on SMM before you reach Sinnar. No matter from which highway you come from (except Mumbai Pune Expressway), it takes 2 hours or more to cover the last 40 km to reach Aundh. Warning Be on the look out for vehicles driving in the opposite direction either on the left side or sometimes even in the right lane. You will see vehicles of all sizes and shapes driving on the road side. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
