Ducati has launched its track-focused flagship superbike, the Panigale V4 R, in India, at an eye-watering price of Rs 84.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Panigale V4 R is the most exclusive and high-performance model in Ducati’s lineup. It is a limited series model, with each bike individually numbered. The V4 R is based on a new frame that’s less stiff than before and has a hollow symmetrical swingarm at the rear. While the overall styling is similar to the standard V4 S, it comes with new MotoGP-derived Corner Sidepods that generate a ground effect at high lean angles, increasing grip for higher cornering speeds. Together with the larger wings, the aerodynamic surfaces generate 25% more downforce compared to the previous model. At the heart of the Panigale V4 R is the 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine that revs to 16,500 rpm. It delivers a peak power of 215 BHP @ 15,750 rpm. When equipped with a racing exhaust, the peak output jumps to 232 BHP and 236 BHP with the use of Ducati Corse Performance Oil. The bike can reach a top speed of 330 km/h. The V4 R uses a racing-style gearbox layout with neutral positioned below 1st gear, eliminating the chance of accidental neutral engagement during aggressive braking and corner entry. The Ducati Vehicle Observer algorithm extends to engine braking control for more predictable performance. Ducati claims that the new Race Brake Control logic allows for much greater use of the rear brake during corner entry. The Panigale V4 R comes equipped with manually adjustable suspension featuring an Ohlins NPX 25-30 fork in the front and a TTX36 monoshock at the back, while the brakes are sourced from Brembo.
