Hyderabad Police Seek Instagram Details Of Telugu YouTuber Anvesh

Hyderabad: Punjagutta Police has written to Meta’s Social Media App, Instagram, seeking details of the account used by YouTuber Anvesh, after a complaint was filed over his alleged derogatory comments made on Hindu deities.

The police registered a case against Anvesh following a complaint lodged by BJP leader Karate Kalyani on Tuesday. His alleged offensive remarks triggered multiple complaints across Telangana and sparked a heated online debate over his comments.

Multiple cases have been registered against him by religious groups for his alleged derogatory comments about Hindu deities, specifically Goddess Sita and Draupadi. The controversy began after he posted a video responding to actor Shivaji’s remarks on women’s attire, which critics claimed insulted religious figures.

Police booked Anvesh under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, and notices will be issued to Anvesh shortly as part of the investigation to record his statement in the matter.

Known for his YouTube channel Naa Anveshana, Anvesh has been a prominent Telugu travel vlogger since 2019. Having visited over 125 countries, his videos often focus on global culture, customs, tourism, and personal storytelling. However, over the past two years, the Telugu vlogger has gained significant attention for several controversies unrelated to his travels.

Hyderabad police are likely to issue lookout notices, as Anvesh is currently residing abroad. The YouTuber’s last video on his Social Media channels showed that he was in Malaysia, where he was seen celebrating the New Year.
