Nissan To Launch Magnite Facelift & X-Trail SUV In 2024

Japanese automaker, Nissan is planning to launch 5 new models in the Indian market by 2025-26. The company will have a new mid-sized SUV and a 3-row SUV in the country in 2025-26. Adding to it, Nissan is also preparing of a new compact electric hatchback based on the CMF-AEV platform. Before introducing the new mid-sized SUV, Nissan will launch two SUVs – the Magnite facelift and the X-Trail in the Indian market in 2024.

Nissan will also start exporting the refreshed Magnite to Left Hand Drive (LHD) markets like Mexico. With new Magnite, the Indian arm of Japanese maker will also explore new markets including Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Nissan is currently selling around 25K to 30K units of the Magnite sub-4 meter SUV per annum. With the export of the small SUV to Left Hand Drive market, the production volumes of the compact SUV could be increased to around 40,000 to 50,000 units per annum.

The Nissan Magnite facelift is expected to receive subtle design changes and significantly revised interior. The SUV is expected to receive the existing powertrain options including a 1.0L 3-cylinder NA petrol and a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol. It could also receive a CNG version.

The Japanese maker has confirmed that the X-Trail 3-row SUV will go on sale in our market in the next 1 year. It measures 4,680mm in length, 2,065mm in width and 1,725mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,705mm. It is slightly bigger than the Jeep Compass and the Volkswagen Tiguan on sale in our market. While the global-spec model is offered in 5 and 7-seat layout, the India-spec model is most likely to come in 7-seat option.

Nissan X-Trail India Launch

The Nissan X-Trail is expected to come with two engine options – a 163PS, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol with a strong hybrid tech. Called the e-Power tech, the X-Trail’s hybrid powertrain offers 204PS and 300Nm of torque in 2WD setup and 213PS & up to 525Nm in 4WD setup.
