Auto manufacturers have released their sales data for the month of December 2023, and most of the brands have reported month-on-month sales decline. However, the cycle year 2023 (January-December) proved to be fruitful for most of the automakers. In this article, we talk about the sales figures for Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Toyota and MG Motor India in the month of December 2023.
Maruti Suzuki Sales December 2023
Maruti Suzuki has reported a total sales of 1,37,551 units including domestic sales and total exports across both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles segments. The company has reported both YoY and MoM sales decline. It sold 1,39,347 units in December 2022 and 1,64,439 units in November 2023. In the domestic passenger vehicle sales, MSIL sold 106,492 units in December 2023 as against 113,535 units in the same month last year. The company has exported 26,884 units in December 2023 as against 21,796 units in the same month last year.
The company sold only 2,557 units of the Alto & S-Presso last month, which is down from 9,765 units in December 2022. In the compact segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR), MSIL sold 45,741 units last month as compared to 57,502 units in December 2022. The company sold 489 units of Ciaz and 10,034 units of the Eeco Van in December 2023. The UV sales increased significantly with 45,957 units sold in December 2023 as against 33,008 units in the same month last year.
Hyundai Sales December 2023
Hyundai Motor Company has reported total domestic sales of 42,570 units in the month of December 2023 as against 38,831 units in the same month last year. The company has reported a YoY sales growth of 10.09 per cent. However, its MoM sales declined with 49,451 units in November 2022. The brand’s export declined by 27.97 per cent. It exported 13,700 units in the month of December 2023 as against 19,021 units in the same month last year. In CY2023, company recorded sales of 6,02,111 units, registering a remarkable 9% increase over the previous year’s 5,52,511 units.
Tata Motors Sales December 2023
Tata Motors has managed to beat Hyundai in the month of December 2023 to grab second position in the list of top car brands. The company sold 43,470 vehicles in the domestic passenger vehicle category in the month of December 2023 as against 40,043 units in the same month last year. The company has reported a YoY sales growth of 8.56 per cent. The brand’s month-on-month sales declined with 46,058 units sold in November 2023.
Mahindra Sales December 2023
In the domestic market, Mahindra passenger vehicle sales have reported a massive Year-on-Year sales growth of 32 per cent. In the utility vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 39,981 vehicles in the domestic market in December 2023 as against 30,238 units in the same month last year. The company is aiming to further boost sales with the introduction of several new models including the Thar 5-door, XUV300 facelift, XUV300 EV, an updated XUV400 and the XUV.e8 pure electric SUV.
Toyota Sales December 2023
Toyota has registered the ever-highest annual sales of over 2.33 lakh units in 2023. The company has reported a massive 46 per cent growth on a Year-on-Year basis. The company sold 22,867 vehicles in the month of December 2023 as against 10,421 units in the same month last year, reporting a massive YoY growth of 119 per cent. The company sold 21,372 units in the domestic market, and 1,495 units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder were exported.
