Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu's biggest industry hit movie Srimanthudu created a sensation at the box office. This movie starring Shruti Haasan as the heroine was directed by Koratala Siva. But at that time the writer Sarat Chandra filed a case in the court that the story of the movie was his. Writer Sarath Chandra approached the Nampally court in Hyderabad, alleging that director Koratala copied the story published in Swati Patrika and made the movie.
However, the Nampally court ordered to take criminal action against director Koratala Siva after investigating his petition. Director Koratala Siva approached the Telangana High Court against the order of the Nampally court. After that Telangana High Court also upheld the order of Nampalli Court and finally Shiva approached the Supreme Court.
A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Prashanth Kumar Misra, which heard the petition filed by Koratala Siva, clarified that there is nothing to conduct further investigation. The bench asked advocate Niranjan Reddy whether he would dismiss or withdraw the petition. The bench, which allowed it to withdraw the petition, made it clear that director Koratala would have to face a criminal case as per the orders given by the local court.
