When SS Rajamouli’s RRR was nominated for the Oscars, the entire India looked towards the world’s prestigious awards event and keenly followed. But this year, it’s a different story.
There is only one nomination from India, which is “To Kill a Tiger” in the Documentary Feature Film category, but it did not win.
Ukraine has won its first-ever Oscar in this category, and their documentary “20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL” has grabbed the Oscar.
Interestingly, Netflix immediately acquired the rights to ‘To Kill a Tiger’ and started streaming it, but much to their disappointment, it did not win the Oscar.
Had this Indian title won the Oscar, it would have immediately boosted its viewership on Netflix, as this award would have brought huge mileage and visibility to the title.
