Force Motors has finally unveiled the new 5-door Gurkha and updated 3-door Gurkha for the Indian market. Nationwide bookings for the lifestyle off-road SUVs have begun with a token booking amount of Rs 25,000. While the launch date has not yet been announced, it’s confirmed to hit showrooms in the first week of May 2024. The new 5-door Force Gurkha prices are likely to start from Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).

The updated Force Gurkha retains its iconic boxy stance. The new design features a rectangular front grille with the ‘Gurkha’ badge, retro-style circular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a black front bumper with a small air dam in the center and round fog lamps. Since the 5-door version is the long-wheelbase variant of the 3-door model, it appears longer.

The SUV features squarish wheel arches, newly designed 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and additional doors. It includes a factory-fitted snorkel, and the roof rack is offered as an optional feature. At the rear, there’s a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, the ‘4X4X4’ badge on the rear fenders, a small ladder, and LED taillights.

The interior layout of the new 5-door Force Gurkha is similar to its 3-door counterpart, but with new upholstery and an additional row of seats. The 7-seater configuration has bench seats in the middle row and captain seats in the third row. It comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver’s display, manual AC with roof-mounted rear vents, all four power windows, a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, and dual front airbags.

5-door Force Gurkah Engine

The new 5-door Force Gurkha boasts increased power, retaining the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6L, 4-cylinder diesel engine but retuned to generate an extra 49 bhp and 70 Nm of torque. This brings the total power output to 140 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, making the new Gurkha more powerful than its main rival, the Mahindra Thar, which comes with a 132 bhp, 2.2L diesel engine.
